Meeting Venue

With the Kick CAN in Cairns Satellite Meeting fast approaching, we would like to provide you with some helpful information to assist you upon arrival.

Location

The Meeting is being held at the Cairns International Hotel, 17 Abbott Street, Cairns, Queensland, AUSTRALIA.

The Cairns International Hotel provides undercover secure parking with a valet service.

Transport

As a courtesy, we have arranged scheduled coaches between the airport and the hotel. Details are as follows:

If your flight is arriving/departing within these times, please make yourself known to ‘Kick CAN in Cairns’ transfer guides displaying signage. Please note that there is limited seating. If your flight arrives/departs outside of these times or you simply miss the bus, you will be required to make your own way to the hotel.

Please note travel between the airport and hotel will take approximately 30 minutes including loading/unloading of luggage.

Travel by Taxi

The Meeting venue is approximately 8 kilometres from both domestic and international terminals (approximately 15 minutes drive). From Cairns airport to the Cairns International Hotel or surrounding Satellite Meeting hotels (Sofitel Reef Casino Cairns and Hilton Cairns) the fare will cost approximately A$20.00.

Travel by Bus

Australia Coach operates an airport shuttle bus service to hotels and the city centre.

Shuttles pick up immediately in front of the arrivals area at both domestic and international terminals and operate an information desk within the terminal.

Checking Into Your Hotel

Hotel check-in time is usually 1500 hours. If you arrive before this time, it is probable that you will not be able to gain access to your room. To guarantee a room is available for an early arrival you will need to pre-register and pay for your room for the previous night. If you wish to pre-register for the previous night, please contact our registration department on canincairns@meetingplanners.com.au.

Registration Process

We encourage all delegates to visit the desk to pick up their name badges prior to sessions commencing on Friday afternoon, 15 August.

The Registration and Tours Desk will be located in the Grand Ballroom Foyer on the Ground floor, adjacent to the hotel reception.

Registration and Tours Desk opening times are listed below:

Sunday 17 August   0800–1100

If you have not paid for your registration, you will be directed to the Cashier to make payment. All outstanding accounts must be settled upon registering for the Satellite Meeting.

Programs and Satchels

All delegates can pick-up their Meeting Program Book and satchel when they register at the registration desk.

Dietary Requirments

If you have not already done so, please advise the Satellite Meeting Managers of any dietary requirements (including vegetarian and religious requirements). To ensure your requests can be met, please email your dietary requests by 1700 Australian Eastern Standard Time Friday 8 August to canincairns@meetingplanners.com.au

Speakers' Preparation Room

The Speakers’ Preparation Room will be located in room Tully 3, on the ground floor. The operation hours are as follows:

0900–1500 (before meeting starts)
1800–1830 (during break)

Saturday 16 August
0730–0815 (during breakfast)
1040–1055 (during break)
1200–1300 (during lunch)
1700–1800 (prior to evening session)

Inclusive Social Functions

Welcome Reception – Friday 15 August
The Welcome Reception is taking place on the Daintree’s Pool deck at the Cairns International Hotel from 1930–2100. This will be followed by the debate “Transplant results are too good for further investment of research dollars.” Enjoy Australian wines and a traditional Australian barbeque buffet while renewing old friendships and making new acquaintances as we welcome you to tropical Cairns. Entry is via a valid name badge.

Kick CAN in Cairns Dinner – Saturday 16 August
A memorable highlight of the Satellite Meeting will be an evening at Dundee’s Restaurant on the Waterfront. Guests will be treated to the delights of an Australian-themed menu, including crocodile and kangaroo if you’re game. All food will be accompanied by fine Australian wines. Enjoy a fantastic evening of dining and networking with colleagues.
Delegates will need to make their own way to the dinner venue. The restaurant is a short 5 minute stroll from the Cairns International Hotel. Delegates will have the option of meeting in the Cairns International Hotel Lobby at a time announced on Saturday afternoon and a member of staff will guide you to the dinner venue.

Internet and Wireless Facilities

For delegates staying at the Cairns International Hotel, internet access can be purchased from your room for A$29.00 per day, which will also allow wireless internet access in all public areas of the Hotel (Lobby, Lobby Bar, Café Coco, Grand Ballroom Foyer, Level 1 and Level 2 Galleries). Delegates that are not staying at the Cairns International Hotel can purchase pre-paid wireless internet cards from the Hotel’s main reception desk and use them in the public areas outlined above only. These are A$16 for 30 minutes or A$36.00 for 2 hours.

Smoking Regulations

All internal areas of the Cairns International Hotel are strictly non-smoking.
